A brilliantly insightful true crime on an area of history I am really intrigued by. Highly recommend.

Richard Charles Cobb paints a new picture for me with ON THE TRAIL OF JACK THE RIPPER, especially regarding the canonical five women. The book has some graphic portions as you could expect, but it also explores a lot of the psychology of what we know. I love how so much of the book states things that are suppositions vs facts. There is so much we do not know, and there's a reason we do not know some of the true ins and outs. The book has a steady flow and pace... There are some interesting photos scattered throughout, most of them I had not seen before. Cobb is definitely a Jack The Ripper expert and so much can be gleaned from reading this true crime book.

An interesting read. I loved the cover and the title. The historical element definitely makes this a different read to current true crime books. I enjoyed the way each case or killer was given its own chapter which made referring back easier when I wanted to. I enjoyed it.

Wow, what an amazing read. I couldn’t put it down and read it in a matter of hours. I’ve read many Jack the Ripper books where authors promise to provide you with the true identity of the killer, so it was refreshing to find a book that went the opposite way and spoke about the victims and their lives. They have forever just been names and photos of their mutilated bodies, but this book makes them human and you can’t help but feel sorry for them during their entire life. Very well written and researched.
