Rating: 5 out of 5 stars If you’re visiting Madrid, this is an ideal travel companion. It will certainly help any visitor to make the most of their stay, with invaluable information about the places of interest and some incredible places to eat. With such a vast selection of restaurants and bars, it’s always difficult as a stranger to know which to choose. My aunt lives in Madrid, right in the middle of the golden triangle and I mentioned some of the establishments to her. She was familiar with most of them and endorsed the author’s selection. The book is well laid out, so it’s easy to plan a visit and navigate an area using this guide. It’s packed with photos of buildings and areas of cultural interest and more than that, there’s a lot of information about the city of Madrid, how it developed and its significance in Spanish history. It’s more than a guide, packed with information and as an armchair visitor, with the colour plates, I felt as if I’d actually spent.. Read more

A huge Who fan, I first saw them live in 1967 when they were third on the bill behind Strawberry Alarm Clock and Herman's Hermits. Thanks to the magic of music streaming, this book was a trip down memory lane, as i once again listened to each album while I read the track by track description of the writing and recording processes.
This is not a Who biography, if you're looking for that, read Dave Marsh's excellent 1983 book "Before I Get Old." This is really a detailed discography with author commentary and intricate details that even a hardcore Who fan like me didn't know. I was thoroughly engrossed in the book from the very beginning and read it straight through in a little over a day. Highly recommended for fans of The Who.

A must-read for old-school horror movie fans!
Watching horror movies with my dad is one of my best childhood memories. Boris Karloff, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee were familiar faces to me. This book was a delight to read and a fantastic nostalgia boost. There was so much information that I never knew, all presented in an easy-to-read and entertaining format. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon. I could tell the author truly appreciated these actors and movies as much as my dad and I did.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars I came to this book as a relatively new fan of Doctor Who. Although new, I have become quickly enamored with the show and I have been eager to learn about it and its history as much as I can. This book truly is an encyclopedia of companions and the author, Dana Fox, has given quite a bit of thought about who belongs in this illustrious list. I got to learn more about Classic Who from biographies of each companion and discussion about what was happening with Doctor Who as it evolved and became an integral part of British culture. As the book explored the Modern Era (NuWho), I smiled with recognition as I got to learn more about the people behind the companions I am already familiar with and got something to look forward to for the Doctors I have yet to see. I am someone who does not mind spoilers (sweetie) and, in fact, I appreciate having more rather than less information about what happens. That said, if you are someone who carefully avoids spoilers, be.. Read more
