This, the fifth volume in the Aspects of Barnsley series is a remarkable achievement for a town and district having "little history" as Barnsley has been described. In this volume there are fifteen contributions and their nature has changed somewhat from that of its predecessors.
In Aspects of Barnsley 5, there are a greater number of contributions which fall within the category of living memories and as such are more autobiographical in nature.
In this volume, we travel from the Town Hall in wartime, to a history of the tramways of Barnsley. Then we read the early life of the Barnsley Cheese Factory, hotly pursued by memories of the Theatre Royal and rounding off with the disclosure of scandalous behaviour in Royston and the fate of the perpetrators before the "Bawdy Courts".
