Anne Armstrong spent nine years on Active Duty with the United States Marine Corps and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserves. She qualified as an attack helicopter pilot and flew with HMLA-467 out of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina from 2009 until 2014, deploying twice to Camp Leatherneck, Helmand Province, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Her personal decorations include the Air Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.


She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Nonfiction) and has published multiple nonfiction essays in such venues as The War Horse, Proud To Be: Writing By American Warriors, and the Marine Corps Gazette magazine, winning numerous accolades for her writing.
