Born in 1917 Daisy Lawrence loved school. Here she is, around 6 and 9 years old.

She was the third of four children.

Education was always important as her mother, Annie Lawrence, wanted her children to have a better life and not be housemaids or servants.

Christmas Eve 1940… Stan proposed to Daisy.

In World War II young men were called up to the Army, including Daisy’s fiancé Stan.
NOT ALL women enlisted immediately. many stayed behind to do the jobs of men.
Daisy also became a voluntary firefighter at night.
