Die Autorinnen und Autoren würdigen damit das Schaffen von Ralph Röber, einem baden-württembergischen Mittelalter- und Neuzeitarchäologen. Sein Tätigkeitsfeld umfasst Forschung, Lehre und Vermittlung im Museum. In seinen 33 Dienstjahren als Konservator am Archäologischen Landesmuseum in Konstanz war er zugleich auch Stadtarchäologe von Konstanz, Leiter des Internationalen Arbeitskreises zur archäologischen Erforschung des mittelalterlichen Handwerks und Honorarprofessor an der Universität Tübingen.

English abstract
This volume brings together 29 research contributions from Germany and Switzerland, grouped into the themes of City – Countryside – Church – Governance, Life and Building in the City, Craftsmanship in Urban and Rural Areas, and Ceramics and Tile Stoves. The authors honor the work of Ralph Röber, a medieval and modern era archaeologist from Baden-Württemberg. His career spans research, teaching, and museum education. During his 33 years as a curator at the Archaeological State Museum in Konstanz, he also served as the city archaeologist of Konstanz, head of the International Working Group for the Archaeological Study of Medieval Craftsmanship, and honorary professor at the University of Tübingen.
