his new study brings much added value. It shines in three areas: photographs, scale drawings, and three-dimensional renderings. The array of photographs far exceeds that offered by earlier publications. Numerous extremely valuable photographs of the interior and close-up images of fitting and equipment both internal and on deck. These alone will be a boon to any modeller. The scale drawings also add much to what is currently available. The quality of draughtsmanship is high and most are also presented in a large enough format to be very useful to model makers and researcher without requiring the use of magnification aids. The most significant new contribution of this book are the colour three-dimensional renderings. These provide a wealth of very valuable and accessible information for modellers and researchers alike. Will be invaluable to all modellers interested in these boats.

As well as being a modeller's dream, the graphics bring the boats back to life such as they've rarely appeared before.

Type VII is a superb 210 page book. The large format hardback is lavishly illustrated with 320 photographs and 100 3D colour images describing various aspects of the Type VII's design. Detailed scale drawings and plans are also provided within the book, offering the level of in-depth information often sought by historians and model makers researching this most popular wartime submarine.

This superbly researched book is the result of years of research by the author, who has also collected together an astonishing number of black and white photographs of the Type VII U-boats in both war and peacetime. These combined with excellent line drawings and paintings bring this class to life.

Warships International

This large format book is very well produced and presented with crisp text supported by lavish illustration, much of it in full colour. There are also end paper drawings of typical Type VII U-Boats from the first series VIIA to the VIIC. The quality of the drawings is excellent and produced specifically to illustrate this book. As a result the book is highly recommended and will feature in the libraries of any self-respecting enthusiast.
The author has done an excellent job of describing the Type VII and its place in the history of warfare. This is probably the finest book on German submarines of WWI available in print.
