Thomas H. Mawson’s book was first published in 1900 and is a classic today, the definitive guide to garden making. The book deals with topics such as ‘the practice of garden design’, ‘the choice of a site and its treatment’, ‘terraces and terrace gardens’ and ‘flower gardens, beds and borders’.

The Art and Craft of Garden Making has been published in many editions; the fifth edition from 1926 is considered the most beautiful. We are making this version available as a facsimile to give more people the opportunity to discover Mawson’s exquisite work. The book contains a new foreword written by author Clive Aslet.
