In addition to printing the entire Pynson edition of Mandeville's text, this volume contains a lengthy discussion by Kohanski of the surviving texts, including a case for variance-and reception-based study. The edition itself is slightly modernized in spelling and keyed to the chaptering of the more commonly printed Cotton and Egerton texts. There are two appendices listing the English manuscripts and early English editions of the text, as well as a glossary of proper names with the page on which they occur, which serves in lieu of an index.
