When I consider all of the model vehicles I have made over the years, I can only lament the fact that I did not have one of these handy guides to assist me during their construction. This edition on the T54/55 is yet another very good instalment in an excellent series providing a library of resources for the amateur and expert modeller alike.

In the sixteenth issue of the series, Tank Craft, Robert Jackson presents the development of the Soviet medium tanks, T-54 and T-55.  In the 64 pages he discusses the post war development of the tanks, which were in fact based upon an abandoned 1941 design, the T-34M, which was improved upon to become the T-44 and subsequently the T-54 and T-55.  Details, variants and operators of the armored fighting vehicles are discussed as well as their use in conflict.  There are 93 black and white photos and 7 4-view drawings in colour.  This is a scale modelling reference which contains 61 colour photos and 16 photos of box art from Tamiya, Takom, Miniart, Revell, Skif and Trumpter.  The professionally made models of Bill Goodrich, Brian Richardson, Gary Riley and William Stewart are pictured.  It's a welcome publication for anyone interested in the T-54 and T-55.

Charting the main variants of the Russian T54 and T55 tanks, of which I was shocked to find out how many where build, this book is a great source of information for the AFV modeller.

The historical sections are in a chronological order, the main variants are explained and the example builds are of a very high standard.

The contents of this title will prove of great use to those modellers looking at the exterior of the T-54/55 and will provide some ideas for the display of a model of these tanks. The author has done a good job considering how much space he was provided with. The cost of this title makes the purchase a no brainer and after all dedicated modelling books are hard to find at a good price.

Another great installment to the Tank Craft series of books. Robert Jackson does his due diligence in bringing to life this Cold War beast. As a military modeler, I find reference books such as this a valuable resource for my hobby. The book is filled with historical facts and photos as well as information coveted by hobbyists' such as myself. It is definitely a great addition to the library.
