Frontline Books are offering The Devil's Workshop (hard-case book) and The Counterfeiters DVD together for the special price of £35.00.
The Devil's Workshop:
One of the most remarkable episodes of WWII was the Nazi attempt to forge currency and trigger the economic collapse of the Allies. In this extraordinary memoir, the sole surviving Czech counterfeiter Adolf Burger describes his wartime experiences as an inmate of several concentration camps and reveals how, under unthinkable circumstances, he became part of the largest counterfeiting operation the world has ever seen.
Supported by hitherto unseen documentation and photographs, this is a shocking account which sheds fresh light on the calculated barbarity of the Nazi war machine. The book served as the basis of the award-winning film The Counterfeiters.
The Counterfeiters DVD:
The 2008 Oscar winning film The Counterfeiters tells the true story of the largest counterfeiting operation in history. Salomon "Sally" Sorowitsch (Karl Markovics) king of counterfeiters, lives a mischievous life of cards, booze, and women in Berlin during the Nazi-era. Arrested by Superintendent Friedrich Herzog (Devid Striesow) and thrown into the Mauthausen concentration camp, Salomon exhibits exceptional skills and is soon transferred to Sachsenhausen. Upon his arrival, he comes face to face with Herzog, who is there on a secret mission. Hand-picked for his unique skill, Salomon and a group of professionals are forced to produce fake foreign currency under the program Operation Berhard. The team, which also includes detainee Adolf Burger (August Diehl), is given luxury barracks for their assistance. But while Salomon attempts to weaken the economy of Germany's allied opponents, Adolf refuses to use his skills for Nazi profit and would like to do something to stop Operation Bernhard's aid to the war effort. Faced with a moral dilemma, Salomon must decide whether his actions, which could prolong the war and risk the lives of fellow prisoners, are ultimately the right ones.
The DVD usually retailing at £19.99 cannot be purchased separately.
