JOHN EPPLER was born in Alexandria in 1914. Raised as an adopted son in one of Cairo’s most aristocratic families, he was recruited by German Intelligence in 1937. After the war he and his wife Denise lived for a time in France, where in 1970 he played the part of Rommel in the film Le Mur de ‘Atlantique.
