I have read a book on a similar topic before, which was published in 1994. As the author reminds us of the last attempt at a monarchist coup in Germany, it proves one thing – the topic is still relevant and worth exploring.
I was very impressed by the structure of the book. I learned a lot of new things, for example, about Portuguese history, which I believe is not as well-known. Each chapter was very well organized, and the events were clearly described. The text is engaging and informative, which allowed me to learn a lot.
This book is a great contribution to the literature on monarchies and their falls.

In the Naval Mutinies of 1798, Philip MacDougall has provided an authoritative and stark history of these dramatic events. The Royal Navy’s strategic and operational history over centuries helped shape the modern world and deserves recognition for the benefits it has brought; however, it came at a brutal cost to those who worked the ships and the guns which brought the victories lauded in naval lore.
Naval Mutinies of 1798 has a place in any collection of works on Royal Navy history.

"Family historians researching their ancestors usually begin by finding the records of their births, marriages and deaths and then adding information about where they lived from valuation and census records. But do these facts help us to understand the people on our family trees? Apart from family stories, what other sources could give us snapshots of their lives? Natalia Bodle’s book covers some of the most useful of these sources. In 122 pages she brings together information on how to search for relevant material in newspapers, periodicals and journals, biographies and genealogies, almanacs and street directories, gazetteers etc. Though I had used many of the sources in my own family history research, there were lots of gaps which I had not explored, either because I didn’t know where to access the information or I didn’t know that the information existed. This is the benefit of having such a comprehensive book full of useful web addresses and links plus an appendix listing the.. Read more

I found the shift from England to Ireland a refreshing read, and learned a lot of little known facets of daily life.
