This volume, while analyzing the German jets in the first chapter, a topic that has been extensively treated, amazes instead for the space dedicated to the nations that pioneered jet flight such as France or Sweden, and the various attempts by Italy and Argentina. There is no doubt that, however, the rarest photos are those from beyond the Iron Curtain, with the various models of the USSR, which after some false starts established itself as one of the leaders in the production of jet fighters.

Scale Modelling Now

This offering from Pen and Sword as part of their Images of War series is what I consider a general reference on a specific aspect in that it covers aircraft generally from a specific global location. The images are good and introduced me to some twin boom aircraft from the period that I was unaware of and that I would love to replicate in miniature. I feel the value of this title is when looking for a subject to energise you for your next build.

The book was really interesting and very detailed to which the enthusiast I would have thought would find appealing. A really interesting book for anyone interested in the history of military aviation, and those into making models. Even I would give this book a well-earned 4 out of 5 stars.

The early post-WW2 years were a period of experimentation in the application of new jet technology for aviation design, a lot of it based around the advanced German designs that the various allies captured at the end of the war. Lots in here showing aircraft that are well known, but equally many that have remained largely ignored. A really interesting book for anyone interested in the history of military aviation, and modellers of course.
