Denis Courtois, born in 1967, is a Belgian who studied in the USA and Britain. Following a MA in Second World War from the University of Birmingham, he obtained his PhD in History specialising in radio propaganda in France from the University of Warwick. He lived in Paris between 2013 and 2014 and visited various archives in France for this book. He currently lives in the UK.
