My suggestion is buy this book, and put on the song 'The Isle of Skye' and have a great time reading a great book (that also has a lot of maps). I have read and reviewed a few of the authors other books. Do yourself a favor and take a look.

This would be an excellent concise history and guide to Culloden if one was travelling light and restricted to carrying a single book on the subject. Wargamers wishing simply to recreate the battle as a 'one-off' tabletop engagement may well find this volume contains most of the information they need; the series of maps showing the significant events of Culloden will prove particularly useful. It would also be suitable for pupils studying the Jacobites who desire more military detail than is found in school textbooks.

About Stuart Reid
Stuart Reid was born in Aberdeen in 1954 into a family with a tradition of service in the Army stretching back through the Battle of Mons to Culloden and beyond. He is the author of numerous military history publications and has written extensively upon Scottish military history during the seventeenth century Civil War and the Jacobite period.
