Luke’s story is massively helpful for anyone who has fought their own demons of addiction and mental health and a source of insight and wisdom to those just trying to understand. It’s the kind of book I’ll go back and read again and again.

Books such as this only work if the author is completely honest about what they went through and Luke is brutally honest in his book. He talks about when he was at his lowest, but this only draws you into his story and makes his recovery even more inspiring.
Even if you've never been through what Luke has, you will feel for him as he shares his story. He would be the last person you would expect to face mental health and addiction problems, yet this is a big part of his book as it's possible for anyone to suffer at some point in their lives. A successful cricketer and businessman, with a happy family life, yet he suffered the same as anyone else with difficulties. He talks in detail about his time in rehab and the amazing people who helped him become the person he is today.
I don't want to spoil the conclusion, but the book has a happy ending yet also offers a stark warning to other sportsmen and women and the warning signs we all need to spot in our friends and family. A fantastic read that gripped me from start to finish.

Luke Sutton was a professional cricket player for over 15 years, captaining Derbyshire for a number of years. Although he was primarily a wicketkeeper, he was also a very skilled batsman. Now an agent to a number of high-profile sports and media stars.
