Designed for aerospace engineering students, government employees responsible for certifying military and civilian aircraft, and individuals involved in aircraft accident investigation and consulting, An Introduction to Aircraft Performance provides a comprehensive and useful approach to aircraft performance issues. In addition to covering the broad area of performance, this book also examines specialized subjects such as the Ground Proximity Warning System and ice formation on aircraft on the ground or in flight. Asselin's veteran analysis and clear explanation of aircraft performance issues have already found their way into many university classrooms, including those of the Royal Military College of Canada. The practical applications discussed in this book will prove essential to working engineers and other individuals. ABOUT THE AUTHORS Mario Asselin holds a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Master’s in aerothermodynamics from the École Polytechnique of Montreal. He is one of the founders and the chairman of Asselin, Inc., a company that specializes in improving flight safety through standardization of flight test procedures and methodologies. He also currently holds the position of Senior Engineering Advisor at Bombardier Aerospace. His long career in the aerospace industry includes previous managerial and supervisory positions at the Bombardier Flight Test Center in Wichita, Kansas, Honda Aircraft Corporation, and Swearingen Aircraft Corporation (now Syberjet Aircraft). He has taught courses at the Royal Military College of Canada, McGill University, Concordia College in Montreal, and the University of Kansas. He was formerly a captain in the Canadian Armed Forces.
