This week sees the release of our latest POW book Healing in Hell.
Healing in Hell is the memoir of Ken Adams, a trained medic, who was sent out to the Far East and immediately saw action on the Malay Peninsula. Captured at Singapore he initially worked at Changi Hospital. Many moves and much worse camps in Thailand were to follow. He describes his life, work and the terrible conditions endured at the hands of the Japanese and Korea guards and worst of all, the Kempetai secret police. Illnesses such as dysentery, malaria, avitominosis, cholera and smallpox had to be treated with minimal or no medicines. Starvation was a fact of life.
Two upcoming book signings to look out for are; Harrogate Waterstones - 15th October and Wakefield Waterstones - 21st October, both from 11.30am onwards. All welcome.

What's Tha Up To Nah?
At a time when front-line policing is under threat nationwide there can be no better time to reflect on the life and times of the old fashioned street policeman whether on foot, on a cycle, motorbike or as an observant passenger in a Hillman Husky. Martyn's reminiscences not only contribute to our local social history but are also relevant to the twentieth-first century policing debate. Click here to view this extract.
